Intentions for 2012
Andi rallied the troops to post about our Intentions for 2012! Here’s mine:
My Intentions for 2012
- Better time management. Follow the schedules and to-do lists I make, but don’t use nearly enough. Say “no” more, prioritize better and spend less time browsing the wonders of the internets.
- Write more. I’d be happy if I wrote about just about anything at this point as long as it’s more significant than emails, texts and Facebook updates.
- Move quicker. Send the stupid email, don’t stare at it in Drafts for an hour. Get things out of “planning” and into “production” faster.
Lessons from 2011
Andi rallied the troops to post about our lessons learned from 2011! Here’s mine:
My Biggest Lesson from 2011: Work with amazing people. Always.
Here’s the thing about life: we’re all (hopefully) going to be here for a while. One of the things I figured out early on in life is that you should love what you do. I use the cliche “If you love what you do, it won’t feel like work” way too often because I think it’s 100% true. And believe me, I love the internet! Then I learned, it’s not just about loving what you do, it’s about loving who you’re doing it with.
Working at Big Sea Design
A few months ago, I started working at the fantabulous Big Sea Design & Development, a great little agency in Downtown St. Pete, FL.
Andi recently interviewed me… Check it out!
Get to know us: Jessica Barnett
Jessica Barnett came aboard at Big Sea earlier this summer to help wrangle new clients and manage projects. She’s an insightful and motivated addition to the team, and has been a huge help in organizing the business-side of running this little agency.
How I Got Here and Where I’m Going
I always have trouble telling people what I do… Not for lack of doing, on the contrary. At a certain point you get so busy actually doing, you forget how to talk about it. But today, I wanted to peel back the curtain a bit…
I shy away from doing the same thing or working in the same industry for very long. Before living in Tampa I’d worked for mom-and-pops, chains, big companies and non-profits – from a photography studio (possibly my favorite job) to an insurance company (probably where I learned the most).
Announcing: Tampa Bay Entrepreneur/Startup Resources
CROSSPOST FROM: Announcing: Tampa Bay Entrepreneur/Startup Resources on Startup Weekend Tampa
We’re crowdsourcing a list of resources for entrepreneurs and startups in Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay, and Florida in general, might not have as many resources for building a startup as we’d like, but I think we have more than we realize. I’ve been in several conversations about the need to start centralizing these resources and Startup Weekend Tampa seemed like the perfect opportunity to jump-start that! With that in mind, I created http://tampa.startupweekend.org/resources/ and version 1.0 of the Google Doc embedded there.
